OUR PROJECTS

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES & RETURNING COLLEGE STUDENTS:
Kiwanis provides $1000 scholarships to high school seniors and returning college students attending Technical, Trade, Two-Year and Four Year Colleges who reside in the Southern Berkshire and Berkshire Hills school districts and meet all eligibility requirements. Applications must be received no later than April 1 each year.
WARM THE CHILDREN: This is our 18th year of participation with Warm The Children!
Thanks to the donations of generous community members, children in Southern Berkshire receive up to $100 of warm clothing each winter. Last year nearly 300 children in south Berkshire were warmer because the kindness of donors like YOU! This year we expect to receive even more requests for assistance to families who have been identified and referred by local schools and social service agencies such as WIC and Head Start.
Your name may be included in a list of donors and acknowledged publicly unless you wish to remain anonymous. You may direct your gift to the memory or in honor of a loved one or special occasion. Please note in the “Special instructions to the seller” before completing your donation. The amount of your gift will remain confidential.
Please remember – 100% of every dollar donated goes to purchasing new clothing for children in our area. All administrative costs are borne by Kiwanis Club of South Berkshire (SBKiwanis).

FOOD DRIVES: We host 2 – 3 Food Drives each year. We invite the community to drop off non-perishable food items, diapers and personal care & laundry products. Our volunteers sort and divide the donated items and deliver to Sheffield Food Assistance and People’s Pantry & CHP/WIC in Great Barrington.
DICTIONARY PROJECT: The Club annually purchases and distributes new dictionaries to all 3rd grade students in the Southern Berkshire and Berkshire Hills Regional school districts.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES: In partnership with Berkshire South Regional Community Center and other local businesses we collect school supplies in July and August to be distributed to local schools before the start of the school year.
ROADSIDE LITTER PATROL: Periodically April through October, Kiwanis members pick up litter and trash along both sides of a 2-mile stretch of Route 7 between Sheffield and Great Barrington designated by the Massachusetts Highway Department.
