On Saturday, April 18th five members of the Southern Berkshire Kiwanis joined other Division 15 Kiwanis clubs, Circle K and Key Club volunteers at Westfield State University to prepare meal packages for food pantries and relief programs in western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. This event was co-sponsored by The Outreach Program (https//:outreachprogram.org), Kiwanis New England District, and its Division 15. Over three hours, 50 + volunteers packed, weighed and boxed packets of rice and beans or macaroni and cheese. Each packet provides 6 high-nutrition meals! By noon, 15,000 meals had been prepared and boxed for distribution! While responding to an urgent and increasing need – volunteers had a good time – chatting, laughing and learning about meal preparation.
HAM ROLL
Our March 27th Ham Roll saw a packed house at the Great Barrington VFW. This was the 16th Ham Roll hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Southern Berkshire (formerly Sheffield Kiwanis). There was high energy in the room of over 100 people during the 20 rounds of prizes. Winning ticket holders took home hams, chickens, turkey breast, ribs, bacon & eggs, pies and many more edibles. The evening’s ticket takers/runners included three members of the Monument Mountain Key Club. Thanks to all who came for the evening of fun; and the many who worked the floor and behind the scenes to make the evening a success. Proceeds from the evening will to go to the Club’s general community support.
